International Agreements

International Constitution

The Constitution of the CIOB in (Region) is in accordance with the Royal Charter and Bye-Laws of the CIOB, and the ‘Structure of the Local Organisation’ dated August 1997, taking into account the educational charity status of the Institute, specific needs, local variations and specific arrangements of the Region.

Partnerships and Agreements

The CIOB has developed a number of partnerships with international organisations as a way of supporting our membership. Every partnership is different reflecting what each organisation has to offer and the benefits to be gained from working together. There are three main types of partnership:

Partnerships with similar organisations, such as the Australian Institute of Building and the American Institute of Constructors. Through these partnerships we recognise each other's membership, standards and participate in joint activities.

Reciprocal Agreements, where we recognise each other's standards in educational accreditation. Examples are the American Council for Construction Education, and the National Board for Construction Management Accreditation, China.

Project Partnerships, such as with the Ministry of Construction China, and CSCEC China, focussing on particular development work and outcomes. These can involve development of university courses, setting up of training centres, developing occupational standards, etc.
