AMERICAN INSTITUTE OF CONSTRUCTORS (AIC)

A three year Dual Membership Agreement between the American Institute of Constructors (AIC) and The Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB).

The American Institute of Constructors (AIC) and The Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) agree to work together to raise the profile and recognition of professional management in construction for the benefit of the industry, its clients and society.

The American Council for Construction Education (ACCE) entered into a reciprocal agreement in 1993. Under this agreement, ACCE agreed to recognise CIOB accredited construction education programs as equivalent to the baccalaureate programs accredited by ACCE, and vice versa. This agreement of reciprocity serves as the foundation of a reciprocal agreement between AIC and CIOB.

The CIOB sets Charter Member (MCIOB) at UK honours degree level and the AIC Constructor membership is set at baccalaureate degree level from an accredited construction education program. In addition, both Institutes have a minimum experience requirement of three years for Charter Member in CIOB, and five years for Constructor membership in AIC.

Whereas the AIC as the national Institute provides services and professional recognition for the construction industry in the United States, the CIOB's qualifications extend international recognition and credibility. Dual membership, therefore, is an attractive option.

The CIOB is committed to assist and give the necessary professional advice to all The American Institute of Constructors (AIC) members applying for CIOB Dual Membership. For further information, please contact our Membership team on: +44 (0) 1344 630 706 / memenquiry@ciob.org.uk.

If you are a member of the The American Institute of Constructors (AIC) and wish to become a member of the CIOB click here to understand the procedures.
