Guidance Notes for Denmark/CIOB Framework Agreement

To facilitate the professional practice of Danish ‘Bygningskonstruktorer' (Constructing Architects) to become a member of the CIOB.

The CIOB undertakes to accept individuals who prove to be in possession of the academic diploma of ‘Bygningskonstruktorer BTH' qualified by Danish law, and are full members of “Konstrucktorforeningen” (M.A.K.).

The process for accepting a Danish “Bygningskonstruktorer” (M.A.K.) as a member of the CIOB is governed by the following rules:

The Danish ‘Bygningskonstruktor' will submit the application form (as attached) to the CIOB enclosing the following documentation:

A certification from “Konstruktorforeningen” stating that the applicant is a member.

The academic diploma of ‘Bygningskonstruktorer BTH'.

A detailed course programme indicating subjects and number of lessons.

Documentation for professional experience as a ‘Bygningskonstruktor' in Denmark .

The CIOB undertakes to accept and register all qualified applicants as members of the Institute within a period of four months from the presentation of the application and the document mentioned above. This registration will be handled in the following way:

1. Those who have less than 3 years approved professional experience as a ‘Bygningskonstruktor' will be automatically accepted into the CIOB as an Incorporate member (ICIOB).

2. Those with 3 or more years accredited professional experience will be accepted into the CIOB as an Incorporate member initially, but can proceed to undertake the Professional Review leading to Full member level (MCIOB) and use the title ‘Chartered Builder'.
