Video Diary

Between 18 and 26 June we followed Professor Li Shirong in the run up to her becoming CIOB President. This page hosts the videos of the events and activities with which she was inlvolved.

These include her CIOB media day at County Hall, London; her visit to Poundbury; the CIOB members' forum, AGM and 175 Anniversary dinner; her visit to the 2012 Olympic Village; the IBP summer dinner, and her visit to the Chinese Embassy.


Highlights from CIOB AGM Week - 22-26 June 2009

CIOB Chief Executive Chris Blythe summarises a historic week in the life of the Institute:

 


Day 6: 26 June 2009: Embassy of the People's Republic of China, London 

Professor Li is guest of honour at the Chinese Embassy to celebrate her becoming CIOB president. It is the first occasion that an organisation based outside of China has been able to host an event there.

 


Day 5: 25 June 2008: International Building Press (IBP) Summer Dinner

Professor Li is invited to give a keynote speech at the IBP Summer Dinner

Day 5: 25 June 2008: Visit to London 2012 Olympic Site, Stratford

Professor Li visits the site for the London Olympics with a delegation of Chinese members who worked on the Beijing Games to share their experience with the UK members working on the 2012 Games.


Day 4: 24 June 2009: CIOB AGM and 175 Anniversary Dinner

Professor Li officially becomes CIOB President. The dinner, which celebrates the 175 Anniversary of the CIOB features speeches from Ruth Reed, President, RIBA, and Philip Dilley, Chairman, Arup.


Day 3: 23 June 2009: Members' Forum

CIOB members from across the globe meet for the Members' Forum, a chance for review, feedback and informal networking.


Day 2: 22 June 2009: Visit to Poundbury Development, Dorset

Shirong visits the Duchy of Cornwall managed Poundbury developement - a pioneering sustainable urban development in Dorset.


Day 1: 18 June 2009: Media Day, London Marriott Hotel, County Hall, London

Shirong is interviewed by the British and Chinese press, including the China-Britain Business Council, Daily Telegraph, Sunday Express, Financial Times, Metro, New Civil Engineer and Business Management.
