Having worked for IBM for 14 years, Terry branched out to put his technology knowledge and management expertise into software development and consultancy before working on start-up businesses. When the dotcom bubble burst he was asked to help establish the first Sector Skills Council (SSC), e-skills UK, which defined skills and qualifications for the technology sector, and then to start the final SSC to be established, Proskills, which supported the supply-chain to construction.
With extensive experience at board level, including as CEO, Terry ventured out on a portfolio career which saw him take on a number of roles from Chair of a Risk and Regulation network in the City, Principal of City of Oxford College, MD of a start-up networking company, International Director for one of the largest UK training companies and lots of other things besides.
Building long term value, growing businesses and developing teams that make a positive difference is however Terry’s passion. Joining the CIOB in March 2017 as Managing Director allows him to use his experience to help the CIOB team achieve their aims of improved service to members, operational efficiency and have an ever greater impact on the professional standards of construction.
