Why should I attend?

The Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) supports a wide range of events that explore important issues and are of value to members of the construction industry. It selects those that it feels will inform, challenge, promote knowledge sharing and aid continuing professional development (CPD).

What will I achieve?

The objectives of the events vary depending on the topic and the format. In general, they hope to reinforce and update participants’ current knowledge and skills, as well as enabling attendees to build on existing relationships and make new contacts.

Subject areas cover the whole construction spectrum. Typical topics include building regulations, health and safety, sustainability, waste management and other industry issues.

What can I expect?

Events include conferences, exhibitions, seminars and more. Some may consist of presentations from industry leaders, while others encourage active participation through panel discussions, breakout sessions and workshops.

Approaches range from informal evenings to more formal two-day events. Delegate numbers also vary depending on the event and venue. They all provide excellent networking opportunities.

Non-CIOB events are led by external organisers and feature respected speakers from a variety of leading companies and organisations.

Who should attend?

Events are open to members and non-members. Delegates who wish to attend an event and want to find out more information should generally refer to the organiser’s website or brochures.
