Management of Time on Construction Projects Working Group
The CIOB invites expressions of interest from those interested in participating in the CIOB working group being set up to advise on standards, education, training and accreditation of project planners and schedulers.
Initial research into the need for this has been conducted and reports published, which can be accessed via the following link: http://www.ciob.org.uk/resources/research.
This research examined the industry’s performance in managing time on construction projects, the techniques used and the competence of those engaged in the process.
The main purpose of the working group is to establish standards of industry best practice for the management of time which will be published as a Code of Practice; and to address training, education and certification needs for those engaged in project planning and scheduling.
It will also aim to raise the expectations and skills of clients and other professionals in their understanding of the management of time related issues. The working group will have real outputs capable of improving industry performance.
The working group will commence in September 2008 and meet approximately four times over a period of twelve months. The group will be supported by a full-time research team who will carry out the work and publish their results at the end of the project.
