Legal Update June 2013 - Payment in Construction Contracts –A Question Mark?

If you are engaging sub-contractors without an order that complies with the “Construction Act” then “the Scheme for Construction Contracts” applies, but putting the theory into practice raises a question on what happens if a claim for payment is made by a sub-contractor but the main contractor ignores it?

The legionella Consultative Document (CD258) sets out proposals from the HSE to publish an updated Approved Code of Practice (ACOP) on Legionnaire's disease.

The consultation provides an opportunity to comment on whether the draft ACOP text provides legal clarification and proportionate advice on low-risk scenarios.

Accompany guidance provides advice on achieving compliance, information of a general nature, including explanation of the requirements of the law, specific technical information or references to further sources of information.
