I have a military background
As a serving or former member of the armed forces, your leadership, team working, project management and problem solving skills are an ideal fit for a career in construction.
CIOB offers a number of routes to becoming Chartered, depending on experience and qualifications, and can support you with training and advice every step of the journey.
For example, if you have a built environment degree or City and Guilds Graduateship in Construction Engineering and have at least three years’ experience as a manager on construction-related projects, you can begin your journey to Chartered Membership by registering online.
If your degree is not in a built environment subject, you can study part-time for our CIOB Graduate Conversion Course, which is a fast way of building up your knowledge and expertise of Site Management.
We can support candidates with technical qualifications, such as an HNC in Military Clerk of Works, or Design Draftsman Class 1, into full Chartered Membership through a number of programmes, such as our own Chartered Membership Programme or CIOB Accredited National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs).
CIOB recognises a wide range of military qualifications. Contact our advisors who can help you find the most suitable route.
