Rebecca is the founder and Director of Thompson Heritage Consultancy linking very strongly with her values of leading change in our heritage sector; mentoring young people entering the construction industry and heritage profession; and championing diversity and inclusion. Prior to setting up her own company, Rebecca spent one year as Chapter Steward (the Cathedral equivalent of Chief Executive) and six years in the role of Superintendent of Works, leading the York Minster Works Department and the maintenance, restoration and conservation of the Minster and precinct properties.
Rebecca lectures at York College with subjects covering ‘The Technology of Complex Buildings’, ‘Measurement and Tendering’ and ‘Health and Safety’. Rebecca is a member of the Institute for Historic Building Conservation (IHBC), Association for Studies in the Conservation of Historic Buildings (ASCHB), the York Consortium for Conservation and Craftsmanship (YCCC), York Guild of Building, The Merchant Adventurers of the City of York and York Civic Trust.
Rebecca is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Building.
