The Chartered Institute of Building is the world's largest and most influential professional body for construction management and leadership and our workforce are key to our continued success.

This exciting and newly created role will give you the opportunity to lead on policy engagement with Government, professional bodies and other external stakeholders in Wales.  

Your key responsibilities will include developing and supporting research and campaign activity in Wales, and drafting written consultation responses to the Welsh Government on key strategic issues.  You will represent the CIOB in the public domain with the aim of raising the profile of the CIOB in Wales and building relationships which facilitate the development of the CIOB’s position within the Welsh Government, National Assembly for Wales and the construction industry in Wales.  

You will also work closely with staff and Members both in Wales and at Head Office, providing advice and guidance, gathering intelligence, drafting briefings and press releases on relevant topics and reporting on activity where required. 

You will bring to the role knowledge of the National Assembly for Wales and Welsh Government processes, along with the ability to cross-examine policy development.  You will be confident and well-spoken, with the ability to communicate with colleagues, members, external stakeholders and political audiences at varying levels of seniority.  You will also possess strong networking skills along with an enthusiastic and flexible approach.  

Knowledge of the built environment and construction industry is desirable, as is the ability to understand the public interest position of a professional body.  Ideally you will be qualified to degree level or equivalent, with excellent writing, research and presentation skills.   Excellent IT skills are also a prerequisite.

This is a home based, fixed-term opportunity until July 2017, working 22 hours per week.
