Mike Foy OBE FCIOB has 40 years of experience in the construction industry with experience on both client and supply side where he has been involved with contractors having local, national and international experience.
A Fellow of both the Chartered Institute of Building and Chartered Management Institute, Mike has an MBA and was awarded an OBE for ‘Services to Education’ in the 2017 New Year Honours List. He is Vice President of the CIOB 2019/20 and will become the 118th President in 2021.
He is currently at the Department of Education assisting in a number of key areas of work including the implementation of Modern Methods of Construction for its schools programme. Prior to his current role, he led a multi-disciplinary team of project directors responsible for the development and delivery of schools in the West Midlands and North West of England. He has also held several Director positions across a range of local authority service areas for many years.
He has engaged actively with the CIOB as Centre Secretary and Chair prior to becoming a Trustee in 2011. As a Trustee he served on the Resources committee, the Audit and Risk committee and chaired the Business Development Board and Nominations committee.
Since becoming Vice President he has served as Vice Chair of the Resources Committee, Chaired the Institute's Policy Board and is currently chairing a sub-group looking at high level Governance - part of the comprehensive review taking place of the Institute's Governance structure. He is also Chairing a review of the sixth edition of the Code of Practice for Project Management and represents CIOB on the Scottish Building Standards – Futures Programme Board.
