European Projects

Our involvement with European research projects is a good way of raising our reputation in other countries in Europe. Our strategy is to work on construction management research programmes, partnering with organisations from other European countries.

The European Commission’s Leonardo da Vinci Programme funds practical projects related to vocational education and training, including projects to transfer innovative practices. The following projects have now been completed.

Common Learning Outcomes for European Managers in Construction IV - CLOEMC IV

This is the fourth part of a project to produce a series of manuals for construction managers. Part I saw the publication of seven books; part II created six; part III created a further six and this added a further six books to the library. Partners come from the UK, Belgium, Germany, Iceland and Poland.

The results of the Intellectual Outputs - the manuals of Construction Managers' Library, are freely available at the project's website.

On-site construction employees’ occupational safety in Europe – SERIO

This project aims to enhance and strengthen development of construction employees Health and Safety skills, by creating multimedia training, based on case studies with the use of contemporary devices.

Postgraduate European Common Studies in Construction Project Management

This project aims to create construction management postgraduate study programs which will lead to the creation of a European system of comparison, certification and mutual recognition of qualifications in construction. Partners come from Poland, Spain, Portugal, Lithuania and the UK.

Preventing Accidents in Construction – Health and Safety Multimedia Animated Learning - SHANIME

This project is creating animations showing construction accidents, with the aim of improving health and safety training. Partners come from Poland, Portugal and Turkey.

Improving Vocational Education in the Construction Industry Sector with the Aim of Identification and Recognition Qualifications in European Union Countries - PROCONSTR

Working with organisations from Poland, Portugal, Greece, Italy and France, this project developed a training programme around eight construction trades which can be used and recognised throughout Europe.

Trans European Promotion of Private Public Partnership – TEP-PPP

This project aimed to spread PPP know-how from the UK and Ireland to Poland and Turkey, producing course manuals and study material for PPP courses and promoting PPP to public authorities and investors.

Strengthening of European Union Funds Absorption Capacity for Infrastructure Construction Projects - TRAIN-TO-CAP

With partners from Turkey, Poland and Italy, the ultimate aim of this project was to minimise disputes and claims on infrastructure projects and to bring greater transparency to risk management and claims processes. The project has created resources for informal vocational education related to risk management, claims, variations and changes for use on e-learning platform MOODLE.
