Response to the BSI Flex 8670 Built environment – Overarching framework for building safety competence of individuals
The CIOB has responded to the British Standards Institute (BSI) on their BSI Flex, an overarching framework for building safety competence of individuals.
BSI Flex is intended to support the development of an overarching framework for oversight of building safety competence of individuals including encouraging the development and application of core building safety competences in practice.
The CIOB, in general, supports the design of a competency framework for oversight of building safety competence of individuals. Our comments on the framework focused on the Skills, Knowledge, Experience and Behaviours (SKEB) model being proposed, differentiating awareness and core behavioural competencies and providing clarity for what type of buildings this competency has primarily been designed for.
