New Highland and Islands Hub launched by CIOB

The Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) is today announcing the launch of a new Hub for members in the Highlands and Islands of Scotland. The launch event, which is taking place virtually, includes contributions from John MacLennan of the Scottish Construction Innovation Centre, Caroline Gumble, the CIOB’s CEO, LDN Architects’ Stuart MacKellar, currently involved in the restoration of Inverness Castle, and Hub committee member Sharon Barrie of the Highland Council.

The CIOB has long had a strong presence in Scotland, with more than 2400 members based there. A visit to Scotland earlier this year for Caroline Gumble to meet with members – the CEO’s last in-person visit before lockdown - led to conversations with members and with the regionally-based team around refocussing the support offered to Scottish members, to further support, involve and represent members and the wider construction community in the Highland and Islands.

The new Hub, officially open as of 1 January 2021, will run a series of events to establish the network, welcome new members and discuss issues of specific interest to the construction and built environment community in the Highlands and Islands.

If you work in construction and would like to get involved with the CIOB’s new Hub, please contact Regional Manager Lynne McKay: [email protected]

This is the video message from CEO Caroline Gumble which was shown at the Highlands and Islands Hub lanuch event on 14 October 2020.
