Level 7 NVQ Diploma approved for Professional Review Exemptions

Holders of the Edexcel level 7 NVQ Diploma in Construction Senior Management exempt from competence assessment of the Professional Review

Last updated: 9th August 2013

The Chartered Institute of Building has announced that holders of the Edexcel level 7 NVQ Diploma in Construction Senior Management will be exempt from the competence assessment of the Professional Review.

Candidates holding the qualification can now apply for chartered membership (MCIOB) using the qualification as evidence of meeting the Professional Review competence criteria. Candidates will now only have to complete a short application form – detailing their CPD, training and commitment to the CIOB’s code of conduct.

Ros Thorpe, Head of Education at the CIOB said: “The Institute recognises the importance of vocational routes to CIOB membership.”

“As a condition of the CIOB as a Joint Awarding Body with Edexcel, each NVQ portfolio is externally verified by a member or fellow of the institute and it is right that we recognise the robust standards of the Edexcel NVQ Diploma in our Professional Review Process.”

The rising cost of higher education has led to an increase in demand for vocational qualifications and the CIOB has a range of routes for these to move on to chartered membership.
