In a continued drive to ensure members are equipped with the necessary competence for their profession. The Chartered Institute of Building has secured recognition of the Level 4 Site Management qualifications for access to the black Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) management card.

Prior to this decision, those with the CIOB qualifications were required to take additional qualifications in order to obtain the CSCS black management card. Commenting on the announcement, CIOB Chief Operating Officer Bridget Bartlett said; “The recognition of our site management qualifications with CSCS enables the whole process to become more seamless and efficient.

"Removing additional requirements which are already part of our qualifications will boost take up for the qualification and will delight many who have been unable to obtain the appropriate CSCS card.”

CSCS provides an important service for people employed on construction sites providing them a portable means of identity and proof of competence to carry out their work on site.

The CIOB qualifications are vocational qualifications based on the National Occupational Standards for Site Managers. You can find out more at http://www.ciob.org/content/vocational-qualifications-0
