LIDL UK - New Store Pentwyn Our project for Lidl in Pentwyn involved the demolition of an existing edge of town warehouse unit, clearing the site and constructing a brand new store with new parking facilities. The works involved the construction of Poroton block walls with concrete columns, steel roof structure with Alucobond roof and wall cladding, external render, aluminium curtain walling and full M&E installations. Externally we provided a reinforced concrete delivery ramp, block paving car park spaces, tarmac surfacing entrance, landscaping and fencing. The construction period was efficiently managed on site to ensure that the Client’s handover took place as planned; this enabled Lidl to complete the interior fit out of the store and open the following week. The construction works uncovered some unknown boundary conditions and underground conditions, plus with some updated specifications from Lidl resulted in the Final Account increasing. However Client satisfaction was sustained throughout as the Contract Completion date was maintained and cost implications were kept to a minimum. As a result we have since built our third store for LIDL.

Bristol Airport Reception Building Encon Construction recently delivered a new purpose-built reception building located to the south side of the runway at Bristol Airport within the existing Silverzone car park. The project involved the construction of a new reception building with associated external works and landscaping and the construction of 52,000m2 car park with associated drainage and roads. The two sites were in separate areas of the Silver Zone Car Park which remained live during the construction phase. The reception building itself was constructed to a high-quality specification in keeping with the main Terminal Building. The ground floor consisted of a Reception Area covering both departures and arrivals incorporating Terrazzo flooring, back painted glass, Egger wall panels and feature ceilings. These main public areas were flanked by lobbies, key room, checking room, public WC’s and stair/lift lobby. The first floor contained open plan offices for Ground Transportation staff, meeting rooms and staff room together with an IT Hub/server room and comfort facilities. Relevant mechanical and electrical services were linked back to the terminal building and controlled by a BMS system. The installation incorporated capacity for future development at the airport.
