There are different grades of membership in the CIOB, depending on your qualifications and where you are in your career. If you're new to the CIOB, you'll join as a non-Chartered member. Otherwise you will be given either Applicant or Student status, depending on your experience and skills and whether you are working, studying or not employed at the moment.

Full Chartered Membership brings many benefits, such as post nominals and the Chartered Construction Manager and Chartered Builder descriptors. Fellowship is the highest grade of CIOB membership, for those with significant senior level industry experience.
