The Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) has opened applications for a second year for its international CIOB Rising Star award. The category is for those who have been in the construction industry for seven years or less and demonstrated excellence in their work, the industry and amongst their peers.

The CIOB Rising Star award is presented at the prestigious Construction Manager of the Year Awards (CMYA), which last year was hosted by renowned architect and TV presenter George Clarke FCIOB. This year CMYA plans to be back at London’s JW Marriott Grosvenor House Hotel on 29 September 2021 to celebrate all the finalists and winners.

Caroline Gumble, Chief Executive of CIOB, said:

“I am delighted to announce that the CIOB will be running the Rising Star award again this year. Last year’s Rising Stars were acknowledged as dedicated and truly professional and I’m sure they’ll be among the future leaders of our industry. It’s so important to recognise new and emerging talent, especially at a time when our industry is facing a skills shortage, and I’m very much looking forward to seeing who makes the shortlist this year.”

This award is free to enter and open to CIOB members and non-members. The judges will be looking for evidence of contribution within the timeframe of the last 12 months, and your employer must nominate you. More information on the entry requirements is available here.

The closing date for the Rising Star nominations this year is Friday 18 June.
