CIOB Level 4 Certificate in Construction Site Management
The CIOB level 4 Certificate in Construction Site Management is designed for supervisors and assistant site managers working in the construction sector who are progressing into a construction site manager role. This qualification develops the learner’s knowledge and skills to plan and programme projects, liaise with stakeholders and oversee small to medium construction projects safely and efficiently.
CIOB Level 4 Diploma in Construction Site Management
The CIOB Level 4 Diploma in Construction Site Management is designed for construction site managers working in the construction sector who are progressing into managing larger and more complex construction projects. The qualification develops the learner’s knowledge and skills to plan and programme projects, liaise with stakeholders and oversee large or complex construction projects safely and efficiently.
Studying for the Certificate
There are 4 modules you will have to undertake for the Certificate. The Certificate can be gained after one year. If you continue the course, you can achieve the Diploma in another 12 months. The certificate is an acceptable qualification to gain the Academically Qualified Persons Card (AQP Card)
Studying for the Diploma

Candidates for the Diploma in Site Management need to undertake 12 modules. Assessment is based on four assignments – based on real projects.
- Advancing to the Level 6 NVQ Diploma
The Diploma provides the underpinning knowledge required for the Level 6 NVQ Diploma in construction Site Management. Students working in a management role would then be able to work towards the Level 6 NVQ Diploma which is acceptable as a qualification to gain the CSCS Black Card for Site Managers.
- Duration of the course
The expected duration of the course is two years: year one to gain the Certificate and year two for the Diploma. Although units will vary in length, a minimum of 480 guided learning hours (40 hours per unit on average) is required before the Diploma can be awarded.

The courses are run at approved centres (download the PDF list on the right) and are usually taken on a day release or outside working hours basis. There is also a distance-learning option.
