Many industry professionals have been through CIOB training and possibly worked their way towards chartered status with the help of some of these courses. Since we launched our CPD - Continuing Professional Development - resources, we’ve produced numerous online learning packages that have been available to all for free.

Our move into online CPD has been a tremendous success with 9 out of 10 users citing a positive learning experience. We are now making some changes to the CIOB Academy CPD portal to invest in more online learning that will keep our users ahead of the competition.

The good news is that CIOB members will continue to benefit from unlimited free access to all the hundreds of pieces of CPD learning we have and the new learning we are yet to publish. However, for our non-member customers, we will be introducing a charge of £10 per piece of CPD. This charge will support the investment of new content to keep you at the forefront of your profession, whilst demonstrating the value of CIOB membership. From this month we will charge non-CIOB members £10 per CPD package.

Members can continue to access our CPD by logging into their members' portal account at www.ciob.org or read the dedicated member newsletters to find a code which will allow continued free access to all our CPD resources. This code can be input at the checkout on the Academy website (www.ciobacademy.org). We will change this code every 6 months so do make sure members visit their account regularly and look out for the monthly CIOB e-newsletter which also publishes the code as it changes.

We will still produce free learning, available to all, such as the Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs), including the forthcoming MOOC on construction quality. It is still the case that, although we are changing how non-members access our CPD resources, we are a training academy developed by the industry for the industry. Our work is all about supporting the sector and keeping up with the needs of the industry, enhancing excellence and boosting productivity. Courses are led by professionals with in-depth industry experience. The CIOB Academy is still open to anyone working in the built environment and we will continue to meet the needs of an industry that is undergoing unprecedented technological change whilst embracing new challenges.
