Yasemin Erol Sevim MCIOB is a sustainability professional with a background in architecture and a strong interest in building retrofit. She holds an MSc in Architecture and Sustainability and currently works as a Retrofit Designer in the UK, focusing on improving the energy performance of existing homes through a whole-house approach in line with PAS 2035.
Before specialising in retrofit, Yasemin worked on architectural and retrofit projects that involved close collaboration with clients, engineers, and local authorities. Her current role includes reviewing retrofit assessments, developing design proposals, and ensuring compliance with building regulations such as Part L and Part F. She is particularly interested in upgrading traditional and historic buildings while preserving their original character and fabric.
Alongside her professional work, Yasemin contributes to research in sustainable design. Her academic article, “Examining Energy Efficiency and Retrofit in Historic Buildings in the UK,” published in 2024, explores how energy efficiency measures can be integrated into historic structures in a sensitive and balanced way.
As a Member of the Chartered Institute of Building, Yasemin actively takes part in CPD sessions, professional training, and industry events to stay updated with new developments in low-carbon and sustainable construction.
