The End-Point Assessment (EPA) is the final and most significant stage of an apprenticeship. It’s an unbiased, independently delivered assessment that establishes whether an apprentice is competent against the knowledge, skills and behaviours outlined in the apprenticeship standard.
In 2026, the EPAs will be replaced with Apprenticeship Assessments, which where appropriate can take place throughout the duration of the Apprenticeship. The End-Point Assessment Organisation (EPAO) will also become known simply as an Assessment Organisation, will continue to shape the assessment and ensure the validity of outcomes.
CIOB is an Ofqual regulated EPAO, allowing us to deliver EPAs for the following standards:
- Level 6 Construction Site Management
- Level 6 Construction Quantity Surveyor
- Level 6 Design and Construction Management
- Level 4 Construction Site Supervisor
- Level 4 Construction Quantity Surveying Technician
- Level 4 Construction Design and Build Technician
- Level 3 Construction Support Technician
What does the EPA consist of?

Professional body membership
We provide a seamless transition from the apprenticeship journey to EPA and on to Membership. For apprentices who pass their EPA with CIOB, we will apply Accreditation of Prior Achievement (APA) to their apprenticeship and assessment evidence, meaning apprentices can apply for Membership of the CIOB without the expensive and rigorous review process.
Apprentices that complete a Level 3 or Level 4 qualification can achieve Technical Membership (TechCIOB) while Level 6 apprentices can achieve Chartered Membership (MCIOB).

We require £100 to be paid upon apprentices being registered on ACE360. The remaining EPA fee is due the month of the apprentice's expected gateway date on ACE360. CIOB will send invoices when payment is due. We require PO numbers supplied to [email protected] where applicable.
