Conor Neild-Crabb

Head of Centre, Centre for Construction Best Practice, CIOB Client Champion

Conor is Head of Centre at the Centre for Construction Best Practice (CCBP), where he leads research, industry engagement and collaboration aimed at improving the way construction projects are procured, planned and delivered across the built environment.

Since beginning his career in construction in 2012, Conor has worked across main contracting and construction procurement. He holds a Master’s degree in Quantity Surveying and Commercial Management and also guest lectures at Liverpool John Moores University. His experience has given him a broad understanding of project delivery, commercial management, procurement strategy and client decision-making.

At CCBP, Conor works with public sector clients, contractors, consultants, professional institutions and academia to investigate the challenges facing the built environment and create practical recommendations. This work has included research into Early Contractor Involvement in public sector construction and Whole Life Carbon Assessment, alongside wider work examining procurement, sustainability, industry data and project performance.

Conor has a particular interest in how clients can use procurement and early project decisions to achieve better long-term outcomes. His areas of interest include sustainable procurement, lifecycle costing, whole life carbon, early contractor involvement and improving collaboration between clients, designers, contractors and the wider supply chain.
