Derek Cuthbertson

Derek has over 30 years’ experience in the built environment, progressing from a trade background into senior management in contractor, consultancy and client-side roles.

Working within a wide variety of sectors, Derek is passionate about the industry that he serves and has held senior positions with UK and Global brands for the last 20 years.  As Programme Manager for Royal Mail Group Property & Construction team, he is responsible for Scotland, Northern England and Northern Ireland.  With around 1750 properties and 33 million square feet of space spread across the UK, Royal Mail’s portfolio is one of the largest corporate estates in Europe.

As well as being the first CIOB Client Champion in Scotland Derek is the CIOB Central Region Vice Chair and an approved CIOB mentor for professional chartered applicants looking to progress their careers.  Derek has been involved in the Scottish Super Hub committee for over three years and is committed to giving back to the industry, including helping to nurture the next generation of construction professionals.

As CIOB Client Champion, Derek is keen to share best practice, improve collaborative working, encourage innovative thinking and create best value for clients.
