Career Resume:
I am an Associate Professor of Construction and Project Management at the University of Reading (UoR). Before joining UoR in 2010, I worked as a Research Fellow and subsequently as a Lecturer at the University of Salford from 2005 to 2010. I started my construction career by working at my family’s contracting business in 1992. I later joined a large construction management consultancy firm from 1998 to 2001 with responsibility for the design and implementation of ISO 9001 quality management systems, and quality management training. My research and practice interests progress innovation management, quality management, sustainable construction, and academia-industry engagement.
Personal Statement:
I am passionately engaged in the built environment field since 1993 as a practitioner, a researcher, and an academic – now, an Associate Professor at the University of Reading, UK. My contribution would draw on my in-depth knowledge and practical experience in Teaching and Learning, Research, and Industry Engagement in the higher education sector, together with my experience as a member of the Reading Hub Committee since 2016 and Member Engagement Committee since 2022, and the BSI B/570 and QS/1 Committees since 2024, to further strengthening collaboration between the CIOB professions and academia in order to enhance our collective impact on societal challenges. In addition, being a female and a Taiwanese and British, trusteeship status will help to further build a positive, inclusive image of the construction sector which will assist in attracting further women and ethnic minorities to the industry.
