Chartered Membership (MCIOB)

There are different paths to becoming a Chartered Member, depending on your experience and qualifications level

Skills Development Pathway

Our Skills Development pathway enables you to quickly achieve Chartered Membership and provides evidence of your learning as you work. Through this pathway, you could be Chartered in less than two years without having to do a final exam (Professional Review).

It doesn't matter what degree you start with; this pathway is designed to be a flexible, fast track. This pathway is ideal for a graduate programme, enabling you to learn and gain support from your employer.

Qualified & Experienced Practitioner Pathway - Industry Pathway

This pathway was created to streamline the process for members who are ready to achieve Chartered Membership. You could progress through this pathway and be Chartered in three months.

To be ready for Chartership, we have some minimum requirements to ensure applicants have the skills and experience needed to pass. For this pathway, members need a degree-level qualification and three years (for a construction-related degree) or five years (for a non-construction-related degree) of construction management experience. You can then progress directly to your Chartered membership assessment/exam (Professional Review).
