Hear more about becoming an MCIOB from Joshua.

We often hear people talk about their self-doubt hindering them from completing their written assessment, the Professional Review (PR). It’s important to remember that over 20,000 of our members have taken the Industry PR Pathway.

It’s also important to remember that our members were not alone in this process. We offer a range of resources, from workshops to mentors, that can support you on your journey to chartership.

Our MCIOB member, Joshua, is a Managing Director at Building Safety Act Consult Ltd. Joshua shared a few words of advice about his PR experience:

“I dwelled too long and should have started my application earlier. The process is not as daunting as you might think and if you put some decent hours into doing it, it doesn’t take too long. Whilst the competencies are tough to demonstrate, as they should be to achieve CIOB membership, I was provided with good guidance on the type of experience and knowledge I should be looking to include.

Spend time reading through the application form before launching into it. Put together the key points you want in each section and then write the application around these. The CIOB has been fully supportive throughout the process of becoming a member and members of the team provided me with good advice on how to approach my PR application.”

Joshua also believes that becoming chartered has improved his career:

“Becoming MCIOB has definitely helped my career continue to grow and given me a membership to show the experience that I have achieved. The CIOB has given me opportunities to network and meet people that I probably would not have otherwise met. Being a member provides you with benefits like good-quality CPD events and support to navigate the industry.”

Remember to take advantage of all our PR resources available or get in touch with our team if you need support.
