At CIOB Academy, we put people first, opening our doors to professionals from all walks of life. Since its inception in 2017, every initiative from the CIOB Academy has had the “people first” mentality.

Location agnostic

Our courses are designed to run online, regardless of your location or that of your company. With most courses offering open deadlines, you have the flexibility to complete the content at a pace or place that's right for you, perfect for learners with young children or other commitments.

Whether you're working from home, during a lunch break at the office, or between meetings, our content is always accessible—no matter the setup.

Reasonable adjustments

Some individuals may have exceptional conditions which require their learning to be changed from the traditional course template. Whenever this is the case, our ‘reasonable adjustments’ policy can be applied, giving more time to complete assessments or presenting information in new ways to better assess individuals.

Neurodivergent-friendly course content

Course content has been updated and edited to meet the needs of a wider range of neurodivergent learners. Recently, we reviewed all our written content, revising the language to be more suitable for individuals speaking English as a second language or those who prefer to read rather than listen to content.

Equally, course content can now be zoomed in on or completed out of order. This is only the first step of many designed to make our courses more accessible to learners with different needs.

Expanding EDI-focused courses

Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) is an important effort shared by all professionals, including those outside of CIOB Academy. With that knowledge, we are keeping open many of our EDI-focused courses into 2026, such as Equality, Diversity and Inclusion in the workplace, Leadership and Management Skills, and our Diversity and Inclusion in the Built Environment Massive Open Online Course (MOOC). These courses, and all of these resources, are available on the CIOB Academy website.
