Congratulations you are a CIOB EDI Ambassador

Congratulations you are a CIOB EDI Ambassador

It is official you've become a CIOB EDI Ambassador! We have created this page to help you showcase your involvement and promote the CIOB's work in this area.

What to promote

You're an EDI Ambassador and that doesn't happen everyday. This is an opportunity for you to promote yourself,  the organisation you represent and our work in this area.  As a first step we encourage you to share your achievement in social media.  We have crafted some suggestions and graphics for you further down this page.

A reminder about the role

As a CIOB EDI Ambassador you will help ensure equality, diversity and inclusion is on the agenda in our hub and regional committees, and help us keep an open dialogue between what is happening on the ground and our EDI Advisory Panel. This Ambassador role is a great way for the CIOB to listen to our international members on the fairness agenda and learn from what is happening around the world. We are counting on you to help us make those connections and increase our knowledge.

How connected are you?

No matter where you are in the world, make sure you are connected to the various CIOB social media groups we have and to our main accounts. Our groups, especially in LinkedIn, are there for you to make the most of. You can find our advice for connecting with us locally in social media and all of our various accounts on this handy link. Here is your shortcut to all our accounts, just click.

Our top 3 tips for social media

1 - News people can use

Try to keep your posts simple, informative, and just think about what you would find interesting as a reader. Most of us make a call on whether to read a social media post in just a couple of seconds. So make sure yours grabs attention.

2 - Share video, pictures and graphics

Video content is the most engaged with content in social media. But if you are not prepared to make a film then your next best option is to choose a good image to support your post. Photos of people, projects and data can be highly engaging and will add something to your post.

3 - Use hashtags and namecheck other people

Leverage your networks by name checking people in the activity and use hashtags like #CIOB to join a bigger conversation.

Don't forget commenting on someone else's post is a great way of entering a conversation and extending your own reach.

I want to help make this industry fairer and more open to others, and that is why I am proud to become a CIOB Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Ambassador.  If you also want to make a difference then please reach out to me.

Our suggestion for a short social media post

The business case for increasing diversity and inclusion in the construction industry could not be clearer. What we build should meet the needs of society. That is hard to achieve if we are not sufficiently diverse and, as an industry, do not reflect society. I am proud to become a CIOB Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Ambassador to help make this industry fairer and more open to others. If you also want to make a difference then please reach out to me.
