Technical Support for Public Service Building Standards

A combination of assignments and practical, work-based exercises.

Assessment criteria cover three areas:

1. Task achievement: how well the learner answers the task and identifies its important aspects.
2. Technical Content: how well the learner identifies, describes, and evaluates technical aspects.
3. Presentation: how well the learner structures the assignment, uses visual content, and references sources.

Units are not formally graded, and grades won't appear on certificates or transcripts.

This qualification provides underpinning knowledge for:

• CIOB Level 4 Diploma in Building Control Surveying.
• It may also support entry into related Higher Education degree programmes.

The qualification aims to enable learners to:

1. Develop technical understanding of building control functions within local authorities.
2. Apply knowledge of building regulations, legal frameworks, and quality management systems.

4. Communicate effectively with stakeholders and manage administrative processes.
5. Lay a foundation for further study or advancement within building control and public service roles.
