The CIOB Level 6 Certificate in Managing Public Service Building Control is designed for class 4 technical managers and non-technical managers who lead a public service building control team. This single-unit qualification helps learners develop the knowledge and skills needed to manage building control services effectively. It focuses on understanding the Building Inspector Competency Framework (BICoF), as well as key areas such as service delivery planning, staff development, operational standards, performance management, and building control finance.

Eligibility

This qualification is suitable for local authority staff who either have some level of managerial responsibility for the building control service or are on a development pathway to take on managerial responsibility including:

  • Registered building inspectors (RBIs) who are registered or are working towards class 4 technical manager registration.
  • Non-technical managers (non-RBIs) who can administratively manage a building control team, but not on technical matters.
