Site Visit: Park Hill Regeneration Phase 4

Summary

Overlooking Sheffield city centre, Park Hill is the Grade II* listed development that has become a nationally recognised example of large scale urban regeneration. Originally completed in 1961, the estate is being transformed through a long-term programme creating a vibrant mixed-use community while preserving the building's unique architectural heritage.

Our hosts, GMI Construction Group, are delivering the latest phase of the regeneration, involving the refurbishment of the Duke Street block and the creation of 125 new homes, including affordable housing. The project also includes new public realm spaces, EV charging infrastructure, secure cycle storage, and other sustainable transport facilities designed to support a thriving modern neighbourhood.

During the visit attendees will gain an insight into the unique challenges of constructing within a Grade II* listed structure, balancing heritage preservation with modern residential requirements. The tour will explore how GMI is delivering this significant phase of works while contributing to the ongoing transformation of one of Sheffield's most celebrated landmarks.

There is very limited parking available on-site. Park Hill is just a 5-10 minute uphill walk from the Sheffield Train Station Tram stop, making the site easily accessible via train or tram.
