CIOB has responded to the government’s apprenticeship consultation, advocating for a modernized system that treats construction as a high-skill, professional career. Our response emphasizes parity of esteem for degree apprenticeships and calls for a modular approach to training, integrating micro-credentials in Modern Methods of Construction (MMC) and green skills. We highlight the need for a digital skills passport to enhance career portability and propose "Industry-to-Education" salary packages to solve instructor shortages. By embedding the Golden Thread of safety and professional standards into curricula, Ireland can build a resilient, inclusive workforce capable of meeting national housing and net-zero targets.
