The CIOB Building Conservation Certification Scheme, launched in 2017, as a response to the growing demand for ‘certified’ conservation specialists, is a validation of your knowledge and competence in the treatment of historic buildings and structures.

The CIOB Building Conservation Certification Scheme recognises individuals working in building conservation across three levels of competence.

Each level highlights the individual’s practical expertise and their role in the industry.

This course is available to UK residents only.

Overview

The Scheme is open to those with, typically, 3 years of relevant experience working in the following roles: building surveyor, quantity surveyor, project manager, construction manager, site manager, design coordinator, work supervisors, site managers, design estate/facilities manager, construction planner, clerk of works and construction quality manager, retrofit and building archaeologist.

Candidates will be required to demonstrate competence against the ICOMOS (International Council on Monuments and Sites) Training and Education Guidelines, and the scheme’s competences. In addition, the Scheme requires a demonstration of competence towards sustainability and energy efficiency issues.
