Technical Membership (TechCIOB) recognises professionals with substantial technical expertise in construction

This credential validates technical skills and supports career growth in the industry. The Technical Member grade (TechCIOB) is a specialist award offered by the CIOB. This grade was designed to empower specialists to promote their achievements via a globally recognised certification and post-nominals.

Requirements

To apply for Technical Membership, you must have a construction qualification at Level 3, 4, or 5 (excluding Trade qualifications), along with either 3 or 5 years of experience, depending on the qualification.

Technical Membership of CIOB is aimed at professionals who have technical expertise in the construction industry but may not have a formal degree, such as:

TechCIOB Application Process

The application is a written submission where you’ll demonstrate your skills and knowledge across these key areas:

For each area, you’ll provide examples that show how your experience meets our standards.

Timescale: There is no time limit on how long you take to complete the application.  Once it is submitted the assessment process takes around 6 weeks.
