Summary
Most organisations cannot demonstrate how safety-critical decisions are communicated across duty holders. That is a real risk. Please note: this event is for over 18’s only.
The Building Safety Act 2022 marked a decisive shift for the built environment in the wake of the Grenfell Tower fire. Dame Judith Hackitt’s Building a Safer Future report called for systemic cultural change across the industry.
While skills, knowledge and experience have long underpinned competence, the Act places new emphasis on the need to develop and demonstrate behavioural competence. Central to this is how duty holders communicate throughout the building lifecycle.
At present, most organisations cannot clearly evidence how safety-critical decisions are communicated across duty holders. That gap represents a material risk.
This interactive session focuses on closing that gap. It examines how safety-critical decisions are actually communicated in practice and introduces practical tools you can apply within your own organisation.

Alex has been influencing safety strategy in the built environment for over a decade.
Having held senior safety positions at Mott MacDonald and EQUANS, he now specialises in advising, consulting and coaching organisations on influencing safety strategy in the broader organisational context.
Driven by the belief that safety culture must be lived, not laminated on a noticeboard, Alex curated BITESIZE safety conversations™, an innovative conversational learning practice that helps organisations embed behavioural competence aligned with recognised industry standards through short, impactful discussions delivered in the flow of work, eliminating the time, cost and disruption of out-dated traditional workplace learning methods.
