    Explore the Highland housing challenge, the barriers to delivery and how we can work together to meet the need for 24,000 homes.

    Housing in the Highlands: Meeting the Challenge

    The Highland Council declared a Housing Challenge in June 2024, identifying a need for 24,000 new homes over the next 10 years across both the private and affordable housing sectors.

    With 38 years’ experience in the affordable housing sector, spanning both funding and delivery, Helen Cameron, Service Lead Housing Development, will explore the challenges facing housing delivery across the Highlands.

    The session will consider a range of issues affecting housing delivery, including planning policy, site availability, contractor capacity and funding.

    Helen will explore the challenges facing the sector and consider how construction and built environment professionals, housing providers and other stakeholders can work together to help overcome these barriers and meet the growing housing needs of communities across the Highlands.
