Summary
Explore the Highland housing challenge, the barriers to delivery and how we can work together to meet the need for 24,000 homes.Housing in the Highlands: Meeting the Challenge
The Highland Council declared a Housing Challenge in June 2024, identifying a need for 24,000 new homes over the next 10 years, across both the private and affordable housing sectors.
With 38 years’ experience working in the affordable housing sector, from both the funding and delivery sides, Helen Cameron, Service Lead – Housing Development, will explore the challenges facing housing delivery across the Highlands.
From changes to planning policy and site availability, to contractor capacity and funding, the pressures on the sector have never been greater.
This session will look at the challenges we face and, importantly, consider how we can work together to overcome them and help meet the growing housing needs of our communities.
