Summary:

Join CIOB for an exclusive behind-the-scenes visit to The Lok Ma Chau Loop, one of Hong Kong's most significant and technically complex development projects, currently being transformed into the Hong Kong-Shenzhen Innovation and Technology Park (HSITP).

This site visit has been tailored for construction and built environment professionals, providing a unique opportunity to gain first-hand insight into the planning, construction methodologies, and engineering solutions being applied on a large-scale infrastructure project. Participants will learn about the key technical, logistical, environmental, and cross-boundary challenges encountered throughout the development, and how the project team has overcome them through innovative thinking and modern construction practices.

Topics will include:

• Innovative construction and site formation methods
• Major project challenges and lessons learned
• Digital engineering and technology-enabled delivery
• Sustainability and environmental considerations
• Practical problem-solving approaches adopted by the project team
• Insights that can be applied to future construction and infrastructure projects

This is an excellent opportunity for CIOB members and built environment professionals to explore real-world examples of innovation, collaboration, and leadership in construction while networking with peers across the industry.

09:00 am – Assembly point at Kowloon Tong MTR station Exit D at 09:00 am dated 14th of Nov 2026

09:15am – Departure by shuttle bus - (Please arrive on time – the bus will leave promptly at 09:15am)

10:00am -12:00pm: Guided tour

12:00pm – Return bus ride

12:30 PM – Dismissal at Kowloon Tong

Fee - Inclusive of shuttle bus serivce and insurance

HK$40 for CIOB members

HK$60 for non-members

Important Information

Do not smoke or eat during the visit. Please keep the venue clean and do not litter or spit.

If you feel unwell or need assistance during the visit, please notify DSD staff immediately.

Safety gear will be provided where applicable.

Due to ongoing construction work, members will not be permitted to enter the cave due to safety concerns, if you have any queries, please contact CIOB (Hong Kong region) directly.

Arrangements in Case of Inclement Weather

Under the following inclement weather conditions, visit will be cancelled:

Before the visit- If Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 3 or above; or Red/Black Rainstorm Warning Signal is issued and still in force 3 hours before the visit is scheduled to begin

During the visit- If Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 3 or above; or Red/Black Rainstorm Warning Signal is issued during the visit

DSD will decide to continue or suspend the visit depending on the weather or the actual situation of the visiting venue

This learning activity can contribute to your annual CPD return and should be logged accordingly.
