Collaborative Conversations East Midlands: The Future in Motion

Summary

This event will examine how collaboration across disciplines and organisations is essential to delivering successful transport solutions and creating thriving, connected communities. Professor Sarah Sharples CBE FREng, Vice-President and Dean of Science and Engineering at the University of Manchester, will chair the event, bringing her extensive expertise to guide the conversation.

The session will begin with a keynote address from Rachel Fisher, Chief Executive of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI), setting the scene for a discussion on the challenges and opportunities facing the sector.

Attendees will hear firsthand from experts behind some of the UK's most ambitious transport and regeneration projects, gaining valuable insight into the opportunities, challenges and collaborative approaches driving successful delivery, including:

• Clare Maltby, Head of Transport Strategy at EMCCA, who will explore transport strategy development from the perspective of both a Local Transport Authority and a Mayoral Strategic Authority, with a particular focus on the development of the first Local Transport Plan for the East Midlands region.

• David Strassburg MCIOB FCCA, Associate Director (Transportation) at Egis in the UK, who will discuss the Midlands Metro Alliance and the collaborative approach required to deliver major transport infrastructure projects.

• Paul Seddon MBE, Strategic Director - Planning Transport & Regeneration at Nottingham City Council who will provide insight into the Greater Broad Marsh Regeneration Project, exploring the challenges and opportunities involved in transforming one of the region's most significant regeneration programmes.

• Georgia Collard-Watson, BSc (Hons), DipArch, RIBA, ARB, Associate Principal at Grimshaw, who will present on the Waterloo Station Masterplan, sharing lessons learned from delivering large-scale, integrated transport and place-making projects.

The presentations will be followed by a 'question time' style panel discussion exploring how professionals from different disciplines and sectors can work together to deliver sustainable transport solutions and create better outcomes for communities.

The event will conclude with audience Q&A, providing delegates with the opportunity to put their questions directly to the panel and contribute to the conversation.
