Summary
Join us in Preston for this fascinating demolition project site visit and CPDYour invitation to witness live, reverse engineering deconstruction of 1960’s-era high rise, redundant housing stock, large panel system tower structures, that had inherent poor design & connectivity issues, as witnessed in the 1968 Ronan Point Disaster.
The workshop will be delivered in three parts:
Classroom:
1. Examination of the historical flaws in LPS structures / consequences
2. Detailed overview of best practice methods for their safe deconstruction
Site Tour:
3. Guided tour of live site, showcasing best practice deconstruction, in action at the Avenham Towers Deconstruction project

· Welcomes & introductions
· Video incite of the Ronan point disaster 1968
· The consequences of non-strategic/ planned deconstruction (reverse engineering using cranes).
· How to reverse engineer the safe demolition these potentially poorly built and weak LPS structures
· Use of designed propping systems to allow safe deconstruction using cranes
· Overview of the technical and intense temporary works involved
· Site Visit – Guided tour of live Avenham Tower Demolition Site adjacent to classroom area

Speaker:
Tony McKever: Senior Contracts Manager – Rhodar
Tony has over 45 years’ experience in construction, demolition, and civil engineering, working as an Engineer, Project Manager, and Contracts Manager. He has delivered projects in highly regulated sectors, including nuclear, and across a wide range of environments such as commercial, industrial, energy, infrastructure, education, healthcare, residential, and retail.
His expertise includes high-reach demolition, tower crane reverse engineering, LPS dismantling, floor-by-floor techniques, asbestos removal (licensed and non-licensed), and utility M&E commissioning and decommissioning.
Tony is the Senior Contracts Manager for the Avenham Towers demolition project, to be toured during the session.
This Workshop would be highly beneficial to the following roles:
