Summary
Your invitation to attend the site visit at the new state‑of‑the‑art facilityAbout the Project
The redevelopment of Dundonald International Ice Bowl is a multi-million-pound investment by Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council, supported by the UK Government Levelling Up Fund. Heron Bros Ltd was appointed as the main contractor in early 2024, and the project is currently in Phase 2 of construction, with completion expected in 2027.
Once complete, the new state-of-the-art facility will include:
· A new Olympic-sized ice rink with spectator seating (the only permanent Olympic-sized rink on the island of Ireland)
· A 24-lane tenpin bowling alley
· A 100-station gym
· Children's soft play area
· Community rooms, restaurant, and coffee shop
· Associated support accommodation.
A key feature of the project is that the existing Ice Bowl remains fully operational throughout construction, presenting a range of interesting logistical, phasing, and site coordination challenges that will be of particular interest from a project management and construction delivery perspective.
Visitor numbers to the completed facility are projected to exceed 700,000 in its first year, making it a flagship leisure and tourism destination for the greater Belfast area.
