Summary
Join us for a great site tour of the URS building at University of Reading. A Grade II listed building currently undergoing refurbishment.Come and join CIOB Reading Hub with APM Built Environment Interest Network and Francis Construction to explore retrofit, refurbishment and sustainability with a fabulous site tour of the URS building at the University of Reading.
The URS building at the University of Reading is a Grade II listed architectural landmark designed by Howell, Killick, Partridge and Amis in the 1970s. Originally built for the Faculty of Urban and Regional Studies, it features a structuralist design and has been partially occupied for teaching and study.
Plans for a refurbishment and upgrade have been submitted to preserve its heritage while enhancing its functionality as a teaching and learning hub, with completion scheduled for 2028.

PPE Requirements
5-point PPE (hard hat, goggles, gloves, hi-vis & safety boots) must be worn at all times whilst on site – Please bring your OWN PPE however hats/vests will be provided for those who require it.
Car Parking
Please use ‘Car Park 1A’ which is a Pay & Display car park for use by visitors (Car Park 1A is in ‘B2 zone’ on the Whiteknights campus map). The cost is £1.5 per hour, or £10 for all day parking (https://cms9-prod.rdg.ac.uk/health-safety-services/about-us/information-for-visitors)
Public Transport
• Bus Services: The main routes connecting the University to the town center are the Claret route and the White Knight 20. The Claret route runs 24/7 and every 7 minutes on weekdays, while the White Knight 20 runs every 15 minutes during the day.
• Train Services: You can also travel by train to Reading, which is a more sustainable option. The University is part of the easitNETWORK, allowing students to save on rail fares.
