Site Visit - Treasury Building, Darlington

Come along and join the CIOB North East, in partnership with the School of Architecture and the Built Environment, Northumbria University, for the ‘Constructing the North East’ monthly programme of site visits.

Visitors will be given a guided tour of the sites, meet the people delivering the projects, and see first-hand the huge range of roles that keep construction moving, from site managers and quantity surveyors to architects, engineers, digital construction specialists, design managers, health & safety leads, construction managers, social value managers, project managers and more. It's a chance to ask questions and get a genuine glimpse of what a career in construction actually looks and feels like.

Whether you're a student weighing up your options or simply curious about local projects, these visits are designed for you.

Keir's Treasury Building, Darlington site is a major regeneration scheme that has transformed a historic railway-era building into a modern office complex, creating a new home for thousands of civil servants and playing a key role in the ongoing economic growth of the Tees Valley region. During this visit, attendees will gain valuable insight into the complexities of refurbishing and repurposing a significant heritage asset while delivering a high-quality, sustainable workplace.

Hosted by the Kier project team, the visit will include an overview of the project, key construction challenges, sustainability initiatives, and lessons learned throughout delivery. Participants will then be taken on a guided tour of the site to see the completed works first-hand and hear directly from those involved in bringing the project to life.

This event is suitable for construction professionals, consultants, academics and students interested in project delivery, heritage refurbishment, regeneration and sustainable construction.

FULL PPE MUST BE WORN - Hi-viz jacket, hard hat (preferably with chin strap), safety boots, gloves and glasses. Site can provide some, so please let me know if you require anything.

This learning activity can contribute to your annual CPD return and should be logged accordingly.
