Explore how construction is more than bricks and mortar, with diverse career routes.

Join us for a Tomorrow’s Leaders event in the Eastern Region, where we’ll shine a spotlight on career routes in the built environment that often sit outside the traditional focus.

Beginning with a series of 15‑minute presentations, each speaker will share insights into their role, career highs and lows, key dos and don’ts, followed by an interactive Q&A.

Speakers:

John Mclellan: John McLellan is an Offshore Construction Manager in the renewable energy sector with Cadeler. With nearly 16 years of industry experience, he began his career as an apprentice and progressed through the ranks. His work has taken him across the globe, including the United Kingdom, Taiwan, Japan, Singapore and the United Arab Emirates.

John is passionate about showing younger generations that construction extends far beyond bricks and mortar, highlighting the vital role of offshore construction projects in delivering some of the world's largest offshore wind farms.

Conor Nolan: Conor is a Director at Spacion, offering advance survey solutions headquartered in Birmingham. Operating across the UK including London, Manchester and Bristol, Spacion specialises in scan-to-BIM surveys and digital twin solutions — delivering point cloud surveys and 3D modelling that support clients at every stage of a building's lifecycle, making design, construction and asset management simpler, more efficient and more informed.

Alongside this, Conor is the founder of the Building Brum series. A construction and development network that reaches thousands of event attendees, with over 15,000 podcast listeners and engages with professionals both nationally and globally. Building Brum champions the people, projects and opportunities shaping the region's future, and has become an unmissable platform for anyone serious about the Midlands.

Siu Mun Li: Siu Mun Li is a multi-award-winning construction leader and Director of Constructing Siu-lutions Ltd, a consultancy specialising in temporary works engineering, preconstruction, buildability and construction methodology.

With more than 25 years’ experience delivering major UK infrastructure and commercial projects, including HS1 and Crossrail, Siu is known for turning complex engineering challenges into practical, safe and buildable solutions.

She is a Director of the UK Temporary Works Forum and was named the Most Influential Woman in Construction 2023/24. Siu is also a passionate advocate for raising standards in competence, safety and leadership, while helping to create a more inclusive and sustainable construction industry.
