Matt Bright | Head of Building Safety - LiveWest
Matt Bright is an experienced senior leader with a broad background in fire safety and emergency response across large, complex and high-occupancy buildings, gained through roles in both government and commercial organisations. He is Head of Building Safety at LiveWest Homes, where he ensures compliance with the Building Safety Act, leads major fire and building safety remediation programmes, and drives effective resident engagement across Higher-Risk Buildings. He also chairs the National Housing Federation’s Building Safety Group and sits on an Ambassadors Group supporting the Building Safety Regulator.
Matt’s previous 25-year career as a fire officer included operational deployments in the UK, France and the UAE. He completed a two-year secondment to the Fire Service College as a fire behaviour subject matter expert and went on to work as a risk analyst, fire investigator, and operational advisor with Dubai Civil Defence, before leading a private multinational emergency response team in Downtown Dubai.
As Director of Fire Safety at Emaar Properties, Matt was responsible for fire prevention and life safety across globally significant assets, including the Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building, and Dubai Mall, one of the largest retail and leisure destinations in the world.
Matt is a founding member of the Institution of Fire Engineers GCC (UAE) branch and holds an MSc in Risk, Crisis and Disaster Management.
