Summary

This CPD presentation will provide an overview of blue roof technology, looking at what blue roofs are, why they are increasingly being incorporated into modern developments, and the role that waterproofing plays in delivering a successful system.

Adam will look at where blue roofs fit within the wider approach to sustainable drainage and modern building design, as well as the considerations that need to be made when selecting and detailing the waterproofing system.

The session will cover:

What is a blue roof?

Why are blue roofs becoming increasingly important?

How blue roofs work and where they are typically used

The importance of effective waterproofing beneath blue roof systems

Speaker

Adam Draycott has over 25 years’ experience in the roofing and waterproofing industry, with a career spanning technical sales, business development, refurbishment and new-build projects.

Adam began his career with Liquid Plastics in Preston, a business now part of Sika, gaining valuable experience in the roofing and waterproofing sector. He later moved on to Centaur Technologies, where he was involved in establishing the business and took on the role of Northern Sales Manager.

In 2021, Adam joined Proteus Waterproofing sales team. Since then, his role has developed significantly, and he now has responsibility for the sales team and key accounts across the business.

A large part of Adam’s career has focused on the refurbishment of existing roofs, alongside experience in new-build projects. More recently, Proteus Waterproofing has experienced significant growth across the North, with an increasing volume of new-build work being specified and delivered.
