Summary

Discover how drones are evolving in surveying, turning data collection into powerful insights.

This session will explore how drone technology is now being used across the built environment in ways that go well beyond basic aerial photography. Using live project examples from Plowman Craven, the presentation will show how unmanned systems are supporting chartered surveyors with safer access, richer data capture and more informed decision making across a wide range of scenarios.

The session will cover large scale mapping and reality capture, at height inspection of façades and roofs, confined space inspection using specialist indoor platforms, and a number of emerging use cases where remotely captured data is creating value that would have been difficult, expensive or higher risk to achieve through traditional methods alone.

The goal is to give attendees a practical view of where drone enabled workflows are already delivering measurable benefits, where the limitations still sit, and how these technologies can complement professional surveying expertise rather than replace it.

This learning activity can contribute to your annual CPD return and should be logged accordingly.
