Summary

Join us to learn about the Mindflow initiative to improve mental health support and wellbeing practices across the construction sector.

The CIOB in collaboration with SCI are hosting a session focused on mental health in the construction industry, featuring the charity Mindflow.

📅 Date: Tuesday 12 May 2026
🕣 Time: 9:00am – 11:00am
📍 Location: WSP

The session will introduce attendees to Mindflow, a charity dedicated to improving mental wellbeing across the construction sector through football, community engagement, and workplace initiatives.

Mindflow recently launched the Mindflow Charter, which aims to improve mental health practices across the industry. The charter has been supported by leading figures including Andy Burnham and has been developed in collaboration with both industry leaders and frontline construction workers.

Unlike short-term awareness campaigns, the Mindflow Charter focuses on long-term systemic change, helping organisations embed mental health best practice into:

  • Leadership and management approaches
  • Site operations
  • Workforce training
  • Workplace culture

The goal is to make mental wellbeing as visible and prioritised as physical safety on construction sites.

Mindflow’s mission is to reduce suicide rates and improve mental health outcomes in the construction industry by connecting construction, mental health support, and football to encourage open conversations and shared experiences.

Through partnerships with construction companies, football clubs, and mental health organisations, Mindflow is working to establish new industry standards for mental health support, including a tiered compliance framework that encourages continuous improvement and recognition of positive initiatives.

This learning activity can contribute to your annual CPD return and should be logged accordingly.
